“…I always liked the one where the SR-71 pilot asks permission to fly at 80,000 feet. The local tower responds that if he can get there it is all his. The sled pilot says “Roger, descending to 80,000”

Martin Joseph:

“Canada has an Express Entry Program where it has relaxed immigration for skilled workers, while at the same time it has more rigorous criteria for unskilled workers.

“This means that if you are uneducated and unskilled, you flock to the US (because it’s easy to get in there and stay) and if you are educated and skilled and are a professional, you go to Canada.

“Which tells me the Canadians have it right, but need to stop being so damn smug about how decent they are about everything. It’s easy to tout your immigration and multiculturalism when you are bringing in the cream of the crop. Professionals want to assimilate. They want to get their kids educated. They want to learn the local languages.

“No one is accusing the US of bringing in the world’s cream of the crop via its immigration policies.”

“Everybody agreed that Trump’s main advantage is that he comes pre-corrupted.”

“Thomas Jefferson believed that the Constitution should expire after 19 years, so that the dead would not have dominion over the living. That fate seems to have arrived. The Americans are in constant debates with ghosts and their conversations with dead people are most powerful, most ferocious, at exactly the points where they are most nonsensical.”

Review of Islamic Online University, IOU…

“…The last thing i would like to say: online universities take a lot of discipline. Without discipline, you WILL NOT benefit from it, even if you graduate. You need to take very good notes, dedicate at least three hours of study weekly beyond the live lectures for each of the six classes per semester. Make a set, inflexible schedule. Wear clean “Masjid clothes” before starting each class or study session. Prepare a quiet class-like environment. DO NOT LIE DOWN. Act like you are in a traditional Islamic university. And most importantly, check your intentions. Unless you discipline yourself like this, the only thing you will achieve from the four years is an empty degree. But those who discipline themselves will achieve the minimum level of knowledge to be considered a Talib al-Ilm, will be able to lead their Muslim communities, inshaallah. ”

“12 People Who Made a Difference (and You Can Too!)”

“Our country has more problems than it should tolerate and more solutions than it uses. Don’t allow cynicism to silence your voice―people matter, you matter, and systemic change will only happen when citizens speak out, gather, and believe in themselves and their ideals.”

“Let’s not forget why work exists in the first place. Work exists because someone else doesn’t want to or can’t do something. Work isn’t supposed to be fun. Work is a transaction.

“To be snobbish about the kinds of work people do, does those people doing the things we wouldn’t want to do a disservice.”
